and better ones are appearing with less miles.
Patience is your best ally.
Impulse is your worst enemy.

With this mileage, is there anything I should be looking for to happen? Does this motor start to lose it after so many miles?
I did not think I would get one with so many miles, so Im a bit stressed !!!

anything in particular I should look for prior to taking it home?

Thanks

You love to stress yourself out. These engines are tough as nails.

Yeah, I know of one with 18 miles on it. No service records whatsoever, though.

Are u aware of the techs they hire these days? Getting an oil change or ANY service at the dealership means nothing! The ppl doing ur oil change at the dealer are the same clowns working at Valvaline. Its not the head mechanic changing ur oil its some kid they hire to do oil changes at the dealership.

Ppl seem to have a real false sense of service when they bring their car to the dealer these days. The dealership is about the very LAST place I would ever bring my car for ANYTHING.

I would be less confident in buying a car if the dealer did all the service on the car I was looking to buy. There just seems to be this general confusion that one gets better service at a dealership then they would a private shop. Boggles my mind actually.

I agree with you. The mileage seems a bit high and this is not a cheap car. I would only consider this type of purchase if, I knew the previous owner or had a satisfactory detailed dealership maintenance report, with warranty in effect. On my Redeye, I have every procedure completed at the dealer and I "watch" the technician. I also watch for specials on the dealer website and have been very lucky getting very reasonable priced oil/filter changes. On the purchase you discussed, "better safe, than sorry."

Thanks these are good points. At my local dealer they have an express oil change line, so I usually take it there because you can watch the whole process through the glass, which I do. I suppose my mindset is if I get the stuff done at the dealer, when they want it done, then they wont give me so much grief if I Blow the motor or tranny later. Or maybe that's just naïve.

as long as car fax says clean title and no accidents I would be a buyer. I do all my bosses cars and he never writes a repair order.

I obviously also have vehicles with many more miles on them, and even the older ones have never been subjected to dealer service.

Like GNBRETT, a dealer would be about the last place I took anything of mine. That includes for recalls. Either I fix whatever needs to be done myself (paying for the parts) or ignore the recalls.

Those things, oil changes, etc., I do when I want them done. Then make a note in that vehicle's log book of what was done and when.

If I were you, as soon as you get that car home, I'd check all the fluids. Ideally replace them all (except for the transmission), and put magnetic level and/or drain plugs in every orifice you find. Start fresh, if you will, then count your blessings if everything checks out and the car was never dealer serviced.
