@DRAGRCR for what you're doing, I think selling that one (likely for some decent money) and buying another 170 to race with was a wise choice.

I had to noodle in the real estate comparison for a bit. My thinking in terms of something's value is what the over all market accepts. In this case you have a handful (or less?) people who are willing to pay this much. If I understand correctly there were 40 jail brake 170s available but only 28 sold, so that shows the take rate for that extra $30K paint job too. Maybe I have that wrong since I didn't look in to it much admittedly.

On the real estate example - neighbor put their house up for sale. Young couple swooped in and paid $100K over asking price. Like a lot of young people the have to have it now mentality I guess. Then they couldn't get it insured for what they paid, which caused a closing delay, and eventually they just ate it. Lived there two years and sold the house for $125K less than they paid so a lose lose lose. The fact they were willing to pay $100K over didn't make the houses value increase is the point.

Now if someone wants to have the position that what a single person is willing to pay for an item dictates the value of that item, then OK, but that's not how I look at it personally. I'm blessed my Momma taught me to be good with money.

50 People were offered and originally I think 25 or 26 accepted. A couple were added later. There were 40 colors available. 20 Heritage and 20 Modern. Originally you could get any one of the 40 colors that you wanted and they were going to send out the packages at random. But then they figured out that way less than the 40 available colors accepted so they made it one of one, first come first served. Then they over nighted all the packages at the same time. Of course the East Coast Guys got all the good colors, Panther Pink etc.

I forgot to mention my Competition Blue Car had the black hood Graphics and Carbon Fiber Wheels. EASILY the nicest Wheel & Tire setup I have ever owned.

I did some research and decided on Competition Blue as my Second Choice because it had not been used on any other cars besides the Viper. For instance Cream Sickle and Furious Fushia were used on modern Jeeps and Challengers. Also someone chose Yellow Jacket and it was used on the 2018 Demon as well as other Vehicles. That Car was VIN Matched and Color Matched to the Buyers 2018 Demon. Likely the ONLY setup like that. But a waste of a color choice IMO. So it had to be a color I liked and be exclusive. I chose Panther Pink as my first choice and it was already taken.

I would be willing to bet my Competition Blue D170 was the only one that had miles put on it. Five Hundred Break In miles to race and about 600 by the time I sold it. Maybe Tim Kuniskis drives his? Not sure...........

Technically there is 29 if you include the Soldier's Demon 170 Jailbreak custom painted Green Beret. Waiting on Dodge to find the list of colors used, I know of 25 so far

I think 25 accepted in the beginning. I think the soldiers Car is one of the add ons that made it 28. I have a friend that asked to be included and was allowed in. He "DID" qualify so no big deal. Maybe the other add on, or other was Tim K. I think the one Guy that was doing all the numbers had it at 28. I was watching the updates daily and you could tell certain things based on criteria, process of elimination.

Just because someone isn't good with money and over pays doesn't make something worth what they paid imo. Look at all the people who paid $150-200 for 170s last summer and they're selling $125-135 now. Talk about setting a pile of cash on fire.

In other news a 3400 mile Durango Hellcat sold on BAT last week for $66k.
We may finally be back to a car is not an investment 🤷

Yeah I seen a post someone said it was 28 but didn't include the soldiers car. So far I found 26 colors, with pics of 20 of them
