Thanks to the good deal on a LMI intake from @TheRedKey and @Hpindy track test results, I put one on GoManGo. One more small thing planned, then track time!

Looking forward to seeing what kind of difference the intake makes at the strip!

Nice job as always.

The gap around the shield drove me nuts as well. I ended up running trim-lok around the entire shield. Not only cleans up the gaps, but makes the cover fit much tighter.

Enough for you and your friends...

And you are right about the screaming. if you can get a fly by vid at WOT...it's pretty amazing.

I know it was a video, but I do like the whine of the supercharger. Makes me want it just for that!!! 😃

Thanks for the mention Speedy!
I keep my rain shield in the net pocket of my rear seat delete just in case I get caught out in the rain . I also run the prefilter on the street but remove it for the track . Unfortunately my data logs got screwed up ( tazer glitch??) But it does show my IAT's and by the end of each run my IAT's were 1-2 degrees of ambient temperature.

I still want to know what the effects are of the stock airbox vs. the unsealed aftermarket intakes on IAT in normal real-world driving on the street.

If you introduce hot (under hood) air from the outset you are already at a disadvantage.

Thus, for the track for short bursts the aftermarket intakes are a viable option (pushing a cold car to the line) For the average dude? Not so much; except for the infectious noise gains.

Also air doesn't sit in the intake assembly long enough to saturate with heat - whether they are made of glass fiber reinforced plastic or carbon fiber. Air Mass is measured in cubic feet per minute ; implying movement.

https://www.physicsclassroom.com/class/thermalP/Lesson-1/Rates-of-Heat-Transfer

https://thermtest.com/thermal-resources/conduction-calculator

https://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/convective-heat-transfer-d_430.html

Among others: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=rate+of+thermal+transfer+of+heat+to+air&t=fpas&ia=

The Demon and 2019s are the best of both worlds with fewer compromises.

Agreed with window down.. takes it to another level. I’m really enjoying the Redeye/Demon intake on my 18.

Great job! Your content is always well organized. I couldn’t agree with you more. I read all the threads and decided Lmi would be my best option. I put it on last week, not sure yet about gains, but the sound is definitely intoxicating. Very happy with this purchase.

I'm gonna try to get out tomorrow and do some just driving around logs to see.

Mexico lol

Here's my thinking on intake air temps.....

The stock air box pulls from the headlight and fender. It's a good system no doubt.

The LMI will pull air from all around its filter. With the cover off that means air flow comes on the headlight and across the filter exiting out the hood vent. Assuming enough pull through the filter it will pull that air in so "should" be a net zero difference in IAT.

Even if that theory is wrong, the added air flow from reduced restriction likely negates any IAT difference.

In a perfect world I'd run a Redeye intake with a Demon filter but alas I don't have electric power steering. That may be a future mod.

I have data logs that show IATs . By the end of the run my iat's were 1 degree above ambient.

Btw I'm installing a demon hood (carbon fiber) and demon air box . I already have a plan in motion to deal with the power steering resiviour that's in the way...... Keep an eye on "project demons breath "

Glad to hear you're enjoying the new sound Speedy and will be very curious to see your testing results!

The difference I experienced in Colorado was 144.56 mph (stock) vs. 147.54 mph (w/ Legmaker) at the Pike's Peak Airstrip Attack 1/2 mile. I suspect a 1-1.5 mph increase in the 1/4mi.
