Section of belt below intake looks a little rubbed on outside. Curious if that means anything? Thanks.

It doesn't seem overly bad but I am looking at a picture. You could keep an eye on it or replace it for piece of mind .

Appreciate it. No cracking on sides. Wonder what made contact with it? Nothing should touch outside side of belt, right? Thanks again...will monitor for sure.

Agreed it should never rub on anything . I'm not sure what's causing it. Definitely keep an eye on it .

I would replace it, to be on the safe side and keep an eye on the new one. Just to make sure something in the engine compartment wasn't the original cause.

Could it be too loose and that be the reason it's rubbing on the outside of the belt?

I thinking maybe the tensioner is bad.

I would think if the belt was rubbing on something there would be drag marks in the same direction . They are straight vertical lines . Opposite direction of rotation . There are the same trailing lines further down the belt . If it was my car I would replace it . Before replacing it I would dig deeper . Those lines are telling us something .

The idler pulley rides on the back of the belt, pretty normal wear.

In feeling again.. it's like the label on the belt is what is loose...not the belt material itself. Strange for sure. Will monitor and update.

I would tend to agree with this. If it's just the label it's normal wear on the back side from idler. It's just a laminate. If its not the cords and the rubber's not cracked integrity would be ok IMO. But if it does bother you that much I would just replace it. No one else has seen this "wear"?
