Uniden R1 radar detector set up!

Heres a couple pictures of my hard wired Uniden R1 set up on a Blendmount unit! Wire comes down the A pillar and connects into the backside of the 12 volt plug in on the passenger side. I like the R1, it is a very good long range detector and it is somewhat small for where I have it mounted.

I am going to mod the mount to get the unit up another 1/2 higher. Cut the metal tab off in the one pic. I put the mount in as close up as I could for now. When it came to running the wires, I had a local pro do it. I have had my experience with broken trim tabs in the past. Took him 2 hours and cost $100.00 even! Work is guaranteed! I am to heavy handed to start pulling panels off and it was for me money well spent.

That looks good. I have mine on the dash, but hate it there. Need to find someone to run the wires for me like you did, I'm too ham fisted to DIY.
Need to get the Durango done too.

Got my Rocky Mountain radar scrambler mounted on the windshield. No reason to hide it do to Florida allows dectors and scramblers. They hate em. Lost revenue for them. Company will pay for tickets I get using their product. It works up to 5 miles away and instant on with 360 detection. Idiot next door 2018 ZO6 works at a high performance shop and had all 4 installed, 4 corners of the car, for thousands. Idiot. Bat man car and him, is attitude matches. Maybe mine reflects my car,, fast and I look good in it. We impress each other.

You can get 12v power at the mirror. Not too bad just have to stand on your head in the passenger seat.

I had the mirror tap kit from BlendMount to do that Speedy, but he wanted to go the long route. This guy was like 300 plus pounds, that may have been the bigger reason than a little more ampacity on the circuit lol. I never looked at the circuit pull on my unit. But I bet the CanBus would never know the 1000 or so milliamp amps of pull! This unit runs pretty darn cool!

I have an Escort 360 Max in my pickup that I love for different reasons, it seems to run rather warm! Its very quiet in town. Have not had it on the open road yet.

I have had one tap into the assembly at the mirror. No exposed wiring and can be taken out in a minute. Tried the battery type except when the batteries get hot they either leak or explode. Be changing batteries every week.

An even more challenging thing to do when you have 5 thumbs on each hand and the 1st 3 have little feeling left in them.

Also been considering mounting to the windshield a few inches off the dash on the drivers side, would have good forward visibility, but would prob. be bad for picking up stuff behind me.

Mine, 2nd generation, has had no problem picking up the 360 on the wind shield. Lower part of the glass. $400 and does the 360 with a scrambler is not bad. I'm going to pay 6 times that much for all the paint for my car this week. I year old, dings, paint smudges, engine painted, emblems painted, calipers painted again and just stuff. Stuff is the $$ costings. Find out tomorrow and puke.
