I heard from quite a few people that a unnamed tuner called the NHRA and reported certain cars so they could not run at ATCO because they were quicker then 10.00 and 135 mph. But the demons still got to run.

I want to know if this is true and I would like to bring this out in the open . Because if it is true then shame on them if it is false then shame on the rumor makes .

I'm not trying to stir the pot or cause problems. Dan is a great guy and puts on a great event . But there seems to be issue from time to time . I hear rumors and that's the big problem ... rumors .... They get spun out of control sometimes . But what if they are not rumors and it's true ? We are adults here and I feel bad for Dan dealing with this .

I read some garbage on Faceballs this morning (so many fragile egos and personal agendas). I do find it amusing that people choose to forgo the rules (no matter how outdated they are) and their personal wellbeing in search of a time slip - and then act surprised when they get sent home (regardless if a coward played whistleblower).

Also, those OST "bolt-in" roll bars/cages look sketchy as fuck - nothing like being impaled by your safety gear when you need it most.

Most of Dan's events are like track rentals and they let you run your car even if it is faster than the 10. allowed by NHRA.

Well if this was the case that I couldn't run my 9.50 then I would have been bent for making a 9-10 hour drive there. I had every intention of making it. The car and RV was loaded and ready to go but I had some deadline pop up on Thursday with my business that kept me in Ohio for the weekend.

I'm looking for the Paul Harvey version to this thread. "The rest of the story"

It would be nice if Dan would write in on this info . If this is the case he needs to remove ATCO off the list of tracks for next year.

What any track allows depends on the track owners and whether they see liability. If they follow NHRA rules and have NHRA personnel overseeing a event then you know what you’re going to get. Times are a changing when it comes to these things. They’ve got cars running eights at close to 160 mph by guys who will do it in shorts and a t-shirt using nothing more than the OEM seat belt. I’m all for letting anybody do what they want when it comes to their own neck. I’ve got a Hans Device around nine. 😂 But.... when you start considering that the relatives of the poor deceased will be suing everybody in sight after the fact, the track owners are looking for where to draw the line. The NHRA line is the easiest one to find.

I'm not arguing the NHRA rules . They are written in stone . I'm more curious if someone call about certain cars and such . Because it seems certain cars were sent home but demons were not ...

NHRA wasn't bending when Dodge sent them the Demon stuff. They said the car was too fast to be allowed on the track without their safety gear.

So why would individuals think they would get special treatment if Dodge was told basically to F-off by NHRA?

If ATCO is booting these cars, then they have a justifiable reason. You broke the rules.

Now, do you turn your 60-100k street car into a race car? Or race it on the street?

Going 135mph is pretty damn fast to hit a wall or another car

I don't know the full story and wasn't there.
If they started booting 9 second cars without cages/safety gear, then all of them should have been booted. Demons included (that run 9s)

The fact that the NHRA allowed the new cars to run down to 10.0 and 135mph was a big step in the right direction. It’s time (in my opinion) to take step 2. The new cars already have rollover and side impact protection built in to a pretty high degree. I think a drop from the 10.0 down to a 9.0 with speeds up from 135 to 150 should be allowed with some additional safety rules. 1.... a harness bar with required SFI harness in place and driver side airbags functional. 2...... full driver safety equipment including suit and SFI neck protection that works with the helmet. 3...... NHRA license as required now. All that is affordable. The harness bar is easily removable so that the car is not compromised for daily use or devalued. And....... the license at least requires that you take going that fast somewhat seriously and are not just your garden variety yahoo. With the level of development today with these cars...... kicking people out because they run a 9.99 or 136 mph isn’t doing anybody any good.
