Wow, I bet they are putting regular scat pack pads in the rears.....I feel ripped to some degree.....but the fronts are doing most of the braking.....I guess the Powerstop Pads are in my future....I was going to wait until the factory pads were worn out but now I don't want to b/c the rotors will be garbage by then.....Did you go to the dealership and ask about warranty repairs for that with yours? I am wondering if this is a defect or something...
Scat Pack/Hellcat, Dynamics/no Dynamics all use the same rear brakes. It's only the fronts that change. So they could not have accidentally put 'regular' SP pads on. I'd even be willing to bet that the calipers come preloaded with pads from the supplier (or maybe already completely assembled with the rear suspension) so it's happening further down the chain. My money is still on a running change of some kind. It either saved FCA $0.50 per car, or the supplier ran short of the correct pad and these smaller pads were deemed ok to use.

Or the supplier took it upon themselves to use the smaller pad without consulting FCA and we'll see a recall for a few thousand cars...

So if that does happen I should leave it stock? But if it's deemed an acceptable substitute then I am SOL if I don't address it lol there are probably lots of pad options that will "work" in that caliper rotor combo

I'd just put the Z26s on it and be done with it. Especially if you were leaning that direction any way.

Are the Z26 worth the extra money over the Z23?

Only a little more really, not hardly worth talking about.

What is your driving style like?

Mostly street driving, but I am planning on getting over to Watkins Glen a couple times if they ever open this year...

They both use the same pad material. The Z23s have a rubber backing (less noise), the Z26s use a steel shim (handles heat better). Neither is good for track use but work fine on the street. Unless you're one of those who consider multiple back-to-back triple digit decelerations 'normal' street use. Keep the OEM pads and swap them back in if you go to Watkins Glen (or buy real track pads for that).

I agree with this

That's a great pic and if you look you can see the same tell tail line from the earlier wear mark before they were doing full contact. How many miles?
??? Powerstop Z26's since mile #15.

Pads are not the issue my friends, you guys have some rotors that are not right.

So IDK what you guys are looking at, but I see pictures of rotors I would immediately have replaced. Now, don't make me go pull off one of those Powerstop pads that look identical to these three. I just slipped the Powerstops in yesterday after changing my rotors back from my track set up to street. But here is what I have to back me up, those rotors are not right.

Three pads. Top to bottom...

Brembo Pad OE REWB 15 miles
Hawk DTC-70 half worn
Hawk DTC-70 three miles maybe, not even bedded

IMG_1431.jpg

Now rotors. If anyone is imagining lines on my rotors consistent with those pictures, it is not.

Here is a closeup of the left rear again.

IMG_1433.jpg

And its Sister on the right side..

IMG_1434.jpg
Okay and now for the finale we have a GyroDisc aka Demon Performance rear rotor that matches the correct examples of expected OE rotors pictured above. I would be horrified to see those other rotors on a junker!

So @DodgeCares what are those rotors pictured by others that do not have the same contact area as what is normal/expected?

When I was looking at this on my car I assumed that the caliper was smaller to accommodate a smaller wheel.
It certainly looks smaller(the caliper) than the one's on my 19 WB Scat.

OK so they made a deliberate change for some reason, or possibly a substitution since I could see this being turned down for a smaller rotor using the same pad......I took the wheel off and tried to get a picture without taking it out....put my finger in there and was like....where's the pad? Then I said aww hell with it, I do have a small ballpeen and a punch that works....so let's pull them out.

This kind of has me P.O.'d a little.....WTF Dodge???

The last picture has the PN, if anyone wants to cross reference that. I am wondering what the reason is....seems like a waste of rotor surface to me! Unless there is a good reason for this shit.....PowerStop here I come!

Wow! That is quite a scallop for no discernable reason.

BTW- I googled that PN real quick and came up with normal Brembo pads (no scallop) for our cars and ZL1 Camaros (and probably most other 4 piston Brembo equipped cars).

Looks like they made the pad that way. But why? that big scallop serves no useful purpose. I would be pissed! and be at Mr dealer with it.

now that I have 1200 miles on this car....will switching the pads to a full sweep PowerStop set cause issues bedding to the rotor?
