Neither one of us knows the franchise agreement that they have. We're just guessing here.
No question...But the motor company would have more than a few remedies @ their disposal to insure MSRP sales by dealers..the least of which..any sale with an ADM..would void any warrantee by the factory...the simple truth is...they couldn't care less what the dealer network charged for these cars...and certainly the argument can be made that that stance is valid and as it should be...mine was a purely hypothetical scenario that the motor company could have avoided this if they were so inclined...

One went for $253K on BAT week before last. The most flipped car ever. Greedy and silly people unite!

Carbon wheels maybe? Still ridiculous and I didnt/wouldn't want carbon wheels.

Funny thing bout the 107..(and to a lesser extent the 18 Demon)...regardless of any steps the motor company could have taken to insure a fair allocation..and MSRP retail....there still would be no shortage of those who got one... to cash in on a flip...guess it is what it is...:rolleyes:;)

Way to costly for my blood

These wheels & tires would look good on the 2018

In the world of carbon fiber wheels could you buy another car and get them for less? Thought Ford wanted 20k for them on the mustang. I think it would be nice to just have them but there are cheaper better options for sure

I've not talked to a single person that had carbon fiber wheels that was happy about having them. Everyone touches them with white gloves long enough to stash them away and buys replacement aluminum or whatever wheels. I guess they don't realize the CF will decay over time anyway.

to me, the CF wheels are pretty much relegated to be a future Barrett-Jackson cherry on the sundae when the 10-mile 170 that has been in a bubble for X years goes across the auction block. They are not going to hold up with regular racing use, changing tires often, etc. The other way I look at it is, the psychological aspect of when I only have 1 of something precious to me, I will hang-on to it and preserve it, etc., but if I have (2) of that precious item, that frees up the mind to go ahead and enjoy without stress one of them as intended knowing you have another "on the shelf".

So if I were a 170 owner with my money, I would pretend they didn't exist and go have fun with aluminum wheels. If I had Jay Leno kind of money, I would buy another set or two of the CF wheels and lock em away, and use a set on the car.

If I had Jay Leno money I'd just buy two Demons. One to keep in the wrapper just in case and one to have fun with  I don't think those CF wheels will age well personally. Heck, an in the wrapper Buick GNX went across the BJ block. I think it had like less than 50 miles on it or something. The poor thing was totally falling apart from just sitting. Plastics were cracked and big pieces missing, etc.

As I don't have Jay Leno money, I'm going to enjoy the hell outta mine. You only live once and I don't need a car for retirement income in the off chance it's a ringer.

Better be careful on here. Saying real-world practical stuff like this will brand you a hater by the CF police!

At a bare minimum these vehicles need to be driven a bit now & then to keep them limber

Seals, gaskets, hoses, tires, gas, AC unit, etc etc etc

That gnx was crazy. I didn't know there was an issue with that plastic piece until a few years ago. Really crazy how something like that could just fall apart that was stored inside

Plastics and polymers have come such a long ways since the '70s and '80s, I would hope this modern stuff holds up a little better. Just look at the front bumpers and grilles that are on cars nowadays, super expensive models too - but then again maybe I'm just assuming it is better. They actually make stuff to intentionally breakdown now lol

I'm well versed on the Turbo Buick world world having owned them since the very early 90's and currently have two '87 Turbo T's. What you guys are referring to are the bumper fillers. They ALL need them sooner than later., regardless of miles, how they are stored etc. Exact reproduction replacements are available as well as an excellent fiberglass version. G body production started in 1978 and materials and production techniques to make those weren't great back then up until they were discontinued in late '87/early '88.

My car collector buddy tells me the worst thing you can do is let one sit. He's has to make several expensive repairs over the years from letting his sit for too long and now tries to drive them a bit.

Unless you want a museum piece, buying an ultra low mileage car is never a good idea.

Besides anytime you put miles on it, value drops significantly?
