Lol it’s not. But explaining it seems to be. There are more ways to enjoy the A8 than just throwing it in D was the point I guess.

Putting it into M enables people to use the paddles exactly like you would use the “manual” shifter.
On the highway, where you seem to use this feature most, your arms will never EVER get tangled… we aren’t doing parking lot turns on the freeway…

I preferred the paddles over the shifter because it kept my arms and hands where they should be, at 9 and 3, and on the wheel. Holding the paddle to downshift puts it in the lowest possible gear… I think that is unique to the paddle and not the shifter.

Also, regardless of which you use to get to 8th gear, the car will eventually downshift regardless of what you want if it deems it necessary. If I recall correctly, manual mode takes it out of Eco mode, which prevents cruising in 8 anyway, right? I may be mixing that up with something else. Maybe it’s track mode that downshifts out of 8 after a few seconds.

In track mode it shifts up into 7th if you put it in D after manually shifting it up to 8. In sport mode it shifts to 8th gear in D when you are light on the throttle. My car gets about 25mpg on the highway with the cruise control on in sport mode!

I was hoping for some legit info but it's just another enthusiast repeating what we've all said about electric cars. Stellanis I mean Dodge is not in tune with their customer.

Maybe they are in some ways in ”tune“ Stage 1, stage 2, and 3 under development. But certainly not long term for all us Ice age folks. Just Gimme that Hellaphant or stage 3 with some real gusto. Preferably the 100 lbs less, all Alumuminum special internal goodies and lots of twist and Factory Hp.


Edit: Also get rid of nasty case of Hiccups in the tune as well. Spoiled I know, the more factory HP you get the more you want.

Something I found curious about the Stage 2 upgrade.

I am very interested in getting either the Stage 2 or 3 (depending on what 3 actually is) kit installed on my car. Earlier this month I contacted my dealer who told me they had no information yet, but would get back to me as soon as they had some more information.

Sure enough, a day or two ago, the dealer did get back to me and said that Stage 2 was ready to go. After some conversation, I asked if the dealer was a "Power Broker" and their response (which would make Jen Psaki envious) was "we can order the parts". Well, can't we all order the parts? I thought that the part had to be installed by a Power Broker to maintain the factory warranty. My dealer is not listed on the recently published list of Power Brokers. To me this whole thing doesn't sound right, or am I just being cynical? Anyway, I guess being forewarned is being forearmed..

I was told about this factory direct connection stuff over the summer at my son’s house in Michigan, of course it wasn’t called by its name and it would need to be installed by a certain dodge dealership. I asked about the hellephant engine going in the challenger because I’d have one. All I can say is he laughed at me and said that wasn’t going to happen. But how many times have we heard that stuff before????? Only time will tell, but I’m done with the addition of the Super Stock.

putting the hellephant into production is great but they need to go in 2 different directions with it. leave the challenger SS as rear drive for the strip and make a more street oriented model like the charger as AWD. yes it would up the price but it is what it is. since trading the hellcat for the M5 the acceleration from a stop difference vs a rear drive car with similar HP is mind boggling. we have about an eighth mile 2 lane straight from a light going to my house that switches to one lane. i literally destroyed a ZL1 that was trying to beat me to the lane switch last week
