Lol it’s not. But explaining it seems to be. There are more ways to enjoy the A8 than just throwing it in D was the point I guess.
On the highway, where you seem to use this feature most, your arms will never EVER get tangled… we aren’t doing parking lot turns on the freeway…
I preferred the paddles over the shifter because it kept my arms and hands where they should be, at 9 and 3, and on the wheel. Holding the paddle to downshift puts it in the lowest possible gear… I think that is unique to the paddle and not the shifter.
Also, regardless of which you use to get to 8th gear, the car will eventually downshift regardless of what you want if it deems it necessary. If I recall correctly, manual mode takes it out of Eco mode, which prevents cruising in 8 anyway, right? I may be mixing that up with something else. Maybe it’s track mode that downshifts out of 8 after a few seconds.
