I met a few in person but no notable politicians. Lee Greenwood, Bill Russell, Jim Furyk, Sonny Jurgenson, Johnny Unitas and his son. Lee Greenwood, Sonny Jurgenson and Johnny Unitas were all fairly friendly. I also was specially invited into the Detroit locker room before a game in Pittsburgh when I was 16 or 17 and met Gordie Howe and Andy Bathgate.

I was out processing at Ft Ord, turning in my TA-50 and everything thing else and he was there also.
Very down to earth and normal (considering it was a 1 star general speaking to a Spec 4) at that time.

One afternoon my boss sent me to Washington with a check. John Barrasso thought I was nuts as I told him someday I think there will be a horrible simultaneous type of attack that I described to him. All the following showed up for a chat and dinner.

Impressive group..

My most notables....Vic Morrow (when I was a kid @ a telethon)...Linda Carter..(many times as she is a family friend)...and probably the one that impressed me the most...Jesse Owens,,,@ the NYS Jessie Owens invitational Junior Olympics in 1968...(where I won the state championship final)...@ 15..I could not fully appreciate the magnitude of the man that made Adolf Hitler leave the 1936 Olympics...who was now presenting me with my medal....an honor I will never forget...

On the acting side, when stationed at POM [across the bay from @Hunter , used to run into Clint E. in Pacific Grove every now and then, as well as downtown Monterrey and in Carmel. Did his own grocery shopping, at least a couple times. Always seemed to be in a friendly mood, but his limo driver was a different story.
Also spent a week putting together breakfast for batman [west], while he was filming a late-night cable program [I've long forgotten the title] at a place I wasworking. Pulled in some decent cash bringing small groups middle-aged women over to join him for a chat and a hug. Genuinely seemed to enjoy the attention, and didn't mind my making a few bucks on the side

On the political side, Strom Thurmond. He lived just across the river, maybe 12 miles away. Whenever he was in town he had a habit of visiting our local VA hospital and Army Med Center, wandering the halls talking to whoever he found, and when he heard something he didn't like, hospital administrators would get hauled in for grilling. Invited a group of us over to his place for BBQ on one of those trips [ran into us finishing up pre-deployment physicals]. Contrary to news reports, he didn't hide his "other family" from outsiders

I guess one other. It was funny and it was perhaps 25-30 hr ago. I was flying a bunch. Up in first class, next to this young lady coming out of Nashville or Memphis, to MN that kept showing me her ticket and asking questions. A pretty hot and young Pam Tillis. I recognized the name etc. but know nothing, nothing about country music except to recognize the name. Ha so I just don’t go there. Some small talk, I did help her get to her next gate in the MN airport. It was a good encounter.
