@Diboblo is working on a heat shield for the LMIs I believe
My heat shield was on and I had the same performance results

Looks like as previously perceived the stock airbox for the win even on a mildly modified Hellcat. Which air filters were you guys running in the stock airbox?
I ran the Green last year but have a stock one in now

Also temps especially with the staging lanes will be interesting and is my biggest concern.
I have a LMI 392 True CAI - the one that goes down into the front wheel well.

Moving, I was astounded at how quickly my IATs dropped to 1 degree above outside temp; and it holds it consistently. The other great thing about the LMI True CAI is it doesn't get heat soaked.

However, the big drawback is when sitting in line, like at a drive-thru or in staging lanes. The temps escalate quickly until the fan comes on to knock them down a bit, but as soon as it shuts off, the IAT temp climbs again As a result, I've had to be consciously aware of how close I am to the car ahead of me so I'm not picking up the heat from their exhaust in addition to the hot air rising from the pavement.

Since my mods are sidelined for the year (stupid kitchen floor and new grandbaby - /s) I've started tinkering with some ideas on how to combat the heat intake while in staging lanes.

As I recall, you asked if I had any work done to it and I replied yes , a few things. lol. We always run no ET during testing at every track. It had nothing to do with you. Car was in the pits with the hood open, you were more than welcomed to take a look. Its pullied, with a tune , injectors , and BAP. Stock, engine, trans, blower, exhaust with converters, suspension, leather interior.
Didn't have a chance to come over or I would have. We made back to back passes changed intakes and got back in the lanes where we wanted to make 2 more back to back. Got the 1st one done and were the next in line to run when it started raining then we left

You can see your knock retard in those logs. LMI had 1 deg more at the launch, other than that almost none on either so I doubt it was a factor.

Looking back at my last track outing ambient temp was about 65° and after the burnout my IAT was 86° right before launch and ACT was 109°.

At the end of the quarter IAT was 70° and ACT 135°. All temps are °F.
Do you still have hood vent open? JLT seems to think IATs are lower with it blocked. That ever made a lot of sense to me.

When I had a Demon airbox on my 18 I noticed higher IAT temps and I think it was do to that driverside hood vent acting like a venturi at speed pulling hot air out of the engine compartment which passed over that open filter.. who knows but those hood vents are there to extract heat not blow cool air in.

My Burnbox cool down has worked awesome. Just keep in mind its circulating ambient air and as that temp approaches what the car is the effect slows a lot.

I do not install the JLT vent shield.

If that’s the case I will have to try the cover on. I ran with it off. But not having the box around the filter it’s pulling the same hot air regardless. I may end up buying and selling used one and keep reporting back with findings. Seems like more lmi for sale than anything. I’d love to try the afe track version just to see if it’s really worth that 700 dollar price tag. Which I doubt.

Like I said at the get go, some fast cars run the stock air intake so there may be a reason why. If you want sound, by all means go for it. I think the stock air box is loud enough:)

Are you putting the lmi back on or selling it?
I put mine back on tonight. We will see what happens with it.

I wonder if MAHLE LX 3482 is the factory filter that Hellcats use?

I actually removed a LMI and replaced it with a JLT due to the noise. LMI is pretty loud. JLT isn't a ton better but some. I must be getting old LOL.

The AFE does look interesting, but honestly I don't know that a CAI does much of anything on these cars. Looks good under the hood I guess.

No prob. The rain made things hectic for all. Drove almost 400 miles round trip to make 2 passes because of it. Besides, Still running the stock airbox and filter here so Im not cool enough to hang with you guys in the aftermarket intake crew anyway. lol
