Not that it’s a deal breaker but the ones we get don’t have the Logo. the price savings makes it NBD. But the close out panel kit is identical in every other way cept the logo.

I think it's the one on the back that has the demon and the tree from the track. Demon ones have this in the little plastic insert, regular ones just have a flat plastic insert.

The demon ones are the only ones with an insert, rest have no insert at all. Mine does have the dodge stripe imprints though

Both my 1320 & Redeye had the removable insert. Is the base blank on these? Under the removable insert was an attaching point for the harness bars.

Just as you indicated, the 2 Dodge slash bars are on mine as well, but I don’t have the Light Tree with Demon car staged in front of it. The price I paid, no prob.

Not certain but I think the only cars that received the emblem of Demon staged at Light tree were the cars ordered with Rear seat delete. Chime in if this isn’t correct.

Correct the removable insert with the light tree was Demon specific. Do the seat delete kits being sold now have a removable insert or is the panel solid?

PSA - Just saw a gut wrenching pic of flakes in someone’s oil. Keep a very close eye on it guys!
(Not Speedy’s, but this is the best 170 thread we have going).

Yep it's Ron's car. Looked like a lot of flakes and gold in color. A real shame so many have problems.

Has anyone tried to quantify the problem? So far it appears to be a dozen of 170s with issues, with 3,300 produced and around 3,000 sold, how many got bad motors?

Considering the number of people driving much less racing their 170s seems like a lot unfortunately.

These engines should have been hand assembled.

Does it? How many 170's got issues? My count is less than 12 reported (a few with harmonic balancer, one with a hole in the block while racing, and a couple with bearing issues). is there an accurate count somewhere?

Haven't seen a count just a Facebook page dedicated to owners with failures. Seems only 50 or so of us are driving these and maybe 20 racing.

How many miles and passes on yours?

560 miles, its almost ready for the track no passes yet. Lost some time changing the plugs (the job, as expected, sucked) and installing the cradle lock outs. Then Curt planted the seed not to race it with the carbon fiber wheels since replacement cost is stupid expensive (he is right, I am resistant as I do not want this to turn into another project). So here we go, now need to find wheels (all my race wheels are 15" in diameter).

Front skinny is addressed, but rear is not. I actually thought about doing a 15 inch conversion so the hellcat and 170 would use the same drag radials and wheels. Decided not to so I am looking for wheels that match the Weld S71 front skinny and have bead locks, hmmmmmmmm

I should hit 2500 miles on mine this weekend. We have 3 more TNT events for the year unless I can find a private rental. If anyone's interested in going in on a private rental at Beech Bend lemme know and I'll see if I can set one up.

I'm due an oil change and will do that in the next week or so. Picked up the oil and filter yesterday. I'll cut the filter, check the drain pan, and send a sample off to Blackstone this go around.

Any tips on the plug change? Mine's still not having any misfires or anything so I'm not sure I can convince the dealer to swap them for me. I'd prefer them do it for record keeping, but also wanna go to 2309s so not sure how that would work. I need to ask them.

Doesn't Weld offer a S71 rear in a 17x11 or 17x12? I'm not sure what rear wheel Ron runs but it looks amazing.

This man @16GoManGoHC2 claims to be able to do it in 5min or so... ; )

With the "or so" part being pretty flexible...

Seriously though, he's got the process down. Finding that thread with the tips and tricks is beyond me, I've slept since then.

Mrs. Speedy got me some of those wobble extensions recently, so I got that part covered at least.
