RF Lockout Install scheduled for Tuesday…question please…

Guys,

I am still a little unclear on a couple points. Please straighten me out:

1. Does an unlocked RF Hub Module in the car emit an RF signal such that people can park close to the car and clone a new key the same way as detecting the RF signal from a fob in an unprotected location say, within your pocket or house, using a signal amplifier/repeater, like many YT videos show?

2. If "yes" to #1, then does the TSB reflash "turn off" the module's ability to emit any signal?

3. Regarding the fobs...as part of the TSB, my understanding is they basically give you a one time "new key" (sorry about my nomenclature - I am a mechanical guy not so much on electronics) for the car/module, update however many fobs you want, lock the module, and then no further changes or cloning is possible without replacing the RF Module?

I'm pretty sure they have to plug into the car why they would have to break a window to get in

You keep your key fobs, they don't give you a new key. They do a reprogram of the rf hub which locks it so no new keys can be made so you want to bring any fobs you have to get reprogrammed before the lock

Everything will work the same way it did before with your fobs

Mine shows it was reprogrammed from one number to another

Speaking of confusion…@DGatzby, didn’t have it on his ‘23 ‘Rango but I thought the newer cars did…? Mines a ‘22 coming up on a year old, anyway to know for sure short of calling the dealer with your VIN?

I've found a TSB for 2023 models, so it's not automatic unbelievably.

I just want to be sure that it won't mess with my tune. I bought a pcm for the custom tune. So the car does not have the original pcm in it. I am not computer savy at all.

About the only way it would effect you if you lost all your fobs and you had to replace it but the rf hub is like $160

I brought my laptop just in case I had to put the tune back in but no issue

Thank you for the reply. Just got off the phone with the dealership I ordered the car from and they have no info for the 2015 hellcats. I gave them the TSB# 08-148-22 they had no idea

Sounds like another clueless dealer. There are a bunch of them out there. Also I'm tuned and no problems with the RF lockdown..

I'm waiting on one more red key and then will get it done.
Kinda tempted to get another RF hub as a spare if they are $160. Put it away in a box so years from now I won't be paying $500 and have a tough time finding one.

And make sure if you get a spare that it is the correct software revision per the TSB, right?
